There is so much joy in working with and allowing Reiki to work through me that I simply must share this amazing journey! I came to Reiki through physical challenges and continue with it because of the wonderful spiritual journey it has introduced me to and carried me on. Continually moving toward a deeper understanding of wholeness and oneness, I love to share this wondrous journey with others.

I was attuned to Reiki, First Degree in the summer of 1997. Having been very ill with intractable migraines for thirty years and completely unable to work at a traditional job for ten of those years because of this debilitating illness, I was ready to try almost anything. In addition to this I had just been diagnosed with a birth defect called Klipple-Fiel syndrome. This was causing the vertebrae in my neck to slide forward causing severe pressure on the brain stem, spinal cord, right brain artery, and esophagus. If I did not have radical surgery I would die within six months. Chances of surviving this surgery were 50-50. If I survived there was a good chance I would be a paraplegic. In fact, my chance of coming through the surgery without any residual affects was quite small.

Throughout this surgery my Reiki Master sent distance healing to me and my surgeons. The surgeon was amazed at how well the surgery went. After some time for recovery, I am without any residual affects of this birth defect! I attribute this wonderful success, in large part, to Reiki!

Attunement to Reiki, Second Degree was in the summer of 1998. I found that treating others with the distance method was a wonderful tool, and added a sense of value to my life. I still did not understand how to stop the migraines from their debilitating effect. Western medicine had no viable answers. At this time one half of my life was spent in the hospital on morphine drip for the pain.

At one point I had the opportunity to give a friend who had just had throat surgery a Reiki Treatment. Her reaction was "Karen, you are so powerful, and this is so wonderful, why are you not offering this to the world?" After assuring her that it was Reiki that was powerful, not me, I decided to try offering Reiki to the world. Now it became clear that if I was going to offer Reiki to others to help them heal I must try Reiki for a migraine without the medications. Up to this point I had used Reiki to help me relax, but had also used all of the traditional medications to try to stop the pain. I did not understand that I could be completely relieved of the pain through Reiki alone. The next time I had a migraine I tried a self-treatment with the intention that all of the negative or stuck energy in my being causing this pain be released, transmuted to love and offered to the Earth. Then I asked that the empty places vacated by the stagnated energy be filled with divine love. It worked! From that point on I was able to release all migraines without medication, but continued to have them. Then a few months later I was able to release the migraine syndrome altogether so that I am completely healed! Spiral of Light Energy Alignment opened the following month.

Becoming a Reiki Master in 2001 has opened so many doors for me! Teaching Reiki and exploring this deep spiritual journey is a very important part of my life and my practice. Reiki has changed my life so completely and so wonderfully that I must share this extraordinary gift both through treatments and through teaching. That is why I have become a Reiki Master and am honored to offer this gift to others!
